In I Believed It Too, a solo dancer fights her way out of a destructive false reality, leading the audience on a journey to reveal the many ways she dedicated her life to a world that fails to reciprocate. This daring and glamorous dance production explores the blurred lines of passion, labor, and love. Following the performance, teachers are invited to join a live Q&A session with the choreographer.

About Kashia Kancey

Kashia Kancey is a Miami-born, Brooklyn-based dance-theater choreographer and performer who earned her bachelor of fine arts from the New World School of the Arts. Her work explores themes of joy, intimacy, and the reclamation of space through a Black queer femme lens. Kancey’s career includes performing and collaborating with institutions like the Metropolitan Opera, Urban Bush Women, and David Dorfman Dance. Her choreography has been presented at Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, Ars Nova, and New York Live Arts. She was most recently distinguished as one of Dance Magazine’s national “25 to Watch” for 2026.
